Leadville Area Campgrounds

Baby Doe Campground

Baby Doe Campground makes up 2 loops of campsites within a lodgepole pine forest on Turquoise Lake. This is one of the most popular (and therefore most crowded) campgrounds in the area due to the sandy beach on the eastern shore of the lake. If you are planning a weekend trip, reservations are highly recommended. Ask for one of the sites in the lower loop (sites 1-27) since these are closest to the lake. Turquoise lake sits on the Arkansas river and offers beautiful views from the campground. Rainbow trout and kokanee salmon are well stocked and offer excellent fishing while anglers may also find browns, cut-throats and lake trout. Of the three boat ramps on Turquoise Lake, the Tabor ramp is the nearest to Baby Doe campground. The campground offers few amenities but the basics are provided. Picnic tables, fire rings and grills are available at all sites and firewood is available for sale on site. Flush toilets and drinking water are also provided.
